Hello from Bonnyville

Hi guys, I'm in Bonnyville and have been spearfishing for the last 5 years but haven't bought myself a gun yet (usually use an uncle's) and am looking into buying one. In the interest of not cross posting my original thread is http://forums.deeperblue.net/beginne...ns-please.html . I'm also looking to upgrade the rest of my equipment (fins, mask, and snorkel) and haven't been able to decide on what I should get. Top of the lists are Picasso Black Team Fins, OMER Alien mask with mirror lenses and an OMER snorkel. What are your oppinions on these products?
Thanks for your time,
Joseph

Re: Hello from Bonnyville

See part of my reply on your other thread. The other gear you're looking at is all good equipment. The mirror lense mask blocks too much light in our lakes in my opinion, although it looks great ( I have one). OMER zoompro is fine and any snorkel will do really.
I'd say go withg a fiberglass blade on your fins as they are vastly superior to plastic, but the Picassos are as good as any plastic fin out there.
If we hook up, you are welcome to try any of my stuff.

Re: Hello from Bonnyville

Welcome aboard. I have the black team fins and love em. They're my second pair of omer's and i love em. Mask wise I dig the cresci products i've used a superochio for years now and it refuses to die... I didn't bother to post a reply to your gun thread as i'm not much of a spearo, I have a band gun but it doesn't get much use.

What are some of the better fiberglass fins out there for people with big feet? My shoe size is 15 - 4E.

Re: Hello from Bonnyville

Although I can propel myself fairly fast without fins its hard to keep up to someone wearing a pair.

Re: Hello from Bonnyville

Yeah that was my understated saskatchewan wit coming thru.

The short answer is I have no idea I've never seen foot pockets larger than the 12's I wear, but I've never been looking for 15's either.

Re: Hello from Bonnyville

Joseph, the footpockets are a separate entity from the blades- get the pockets that'll fit and you can put most any blade in there. If you are a heavier guy then a stiffer fin might be in order, but it's not written in stone.
OMER, Waterway and Beauchat make great fiber blades as well as many others. Maybe check out DB resident jimdoe2you and see what he has available- send him a PM and I'm sure he'll be helpful.
If you can't find a big enough footpocket, there are open-heel freedive fins available Riffe Open Heel Fins
