Sans Souci Dolphins 55th Reunion
Saturday 12th April 2008 Open to all spearos. This is history in the making. Cost includes food and drinks (Yes you can drink heaps!) The reunion is an event that has been in the planning for over 12 months and promises to be a huge. We have ex members and friends-of coming from all around Australia to be part of this awesome day; we have original members who started the Sans Souci Dolphins way back in 1953 also attending. I really want to make our older members feel so proud of our ongoing contribution to our growing club. If you have ever wanted to be part of something that is history in the making, this is it. Another way that I look at it is like this… in another 45 years it will be the 100th year anniversary (and I’ll be almost 80 years old, I hope that I’ll be drinking to those who have been part of the history of the previous chapters and are no longer with us, and cheersing the strong old bastards that won’t die. Trippa, Cath will not let you die at 85 as you would not have finished your list of things to do…, Froggo, that bean shoot diet will keep you alive forever!) I can guarantee that I will expect the future young folk to put on a doo that will have me in tears. I am extremely passionate about this day as I know it will be incredible, and I truly want you to be part of it. We are all busy, and we may have to shuffle a few things around to make it happen, but it will be well worth it. I know the drill; I have a family, and work commitments, and kids sport, a friend we were meant to catch up with, bla bla bla. But this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the founders, we are talking about some of these older statesmen of the sport who will not be around forever. Meet them and share in the great photos of jewie weekends back in the day where they would fill up the back of the utes and station wagons with fish. When some of these guys started diving they were making their gear because there were no products commercially available! Anyway pull your thums out, make an effort and commit to coming. You can pay at the door but I just need to know committed numbers for catering. Partners are very welcome. Where: St George Sailing Club, Riverside Drive, Sans Souci, NSW 2219. Free Parking: there is ample on site. Remember if you going to drink don’t be an idiot and drive. Catch a taxi or work out other arrangements. Cost: $80, this includes food and beverage package. Yes you can drink heaps! Start Time: room opens at 11am (and we have managed to get beverages and extra food to come out at this time at no extra cost, officially it is 12pm till 4pm in the function room. Its going to be a great day, full of history from the founders of the club.
Plenty of food and grog to partake in. Lots of tall tales many spearfishing photo albums from eras past speakers and talks from the old hands on 'how it was done' gonna be a top day you will remember (if you dont have too much) for the rest of your lives. How often do you get to speak with blokes who have dived for the last 55+ years?

Saturday 12th April, from 12-4pm. St George Sailing Club, Riverside Drive, Sans Souci, NSW 2219. cost $80, includes food and drinks (you can go nuts on the grog if you want). This is your chance to meet the founders of the Sans Souci Dolphins club, ask questions about comp spearing, how it began, how good was it? rub shoulders with the some of the best spearos in the country from today and yesteryear. Find out how it all started, the club, the comps, the other clubs, the zone, etc etc etc Stories like kids spearing and taking their catch home strung on a small tree between two divers on the train and bus. Shit that just dont happen anymore. Stories of home made masks, snorkels, guns, fins etc. They were not commercially made back then. You had to be handy with the tools, not just good at shoting fish. Its gonna be a fantastic day, full of nsw and australian spearfishing history. You're gonna kick yourself if you miss it.
