That may be for a completely differend reason


Grey dot on a name means not online;
Green dot on a name means online and everyone else can see they're online;
Red dot on a name means online but hidden to everyone else except for DB Staff;
Asterix next to your name in the "who's online" section is the same as the red dot - means they're online but not visible to the mortals, I mean plebs, I mean respected Forum users.

I am red because I leave DB on in the background at work and everyone laughs at me for being online all day and night, they think i'm addicted or something But honestly I only check it every 3 minutes or so!
