Re: Is this traning good/bad?

Check out the O2 and CO2 tables. I think there are some links in the tips and technique section on freediving. Or do a search (easiest) Very similar to what you are doing but you alternate with holding breath and breathing. I dont know how good holding for 1 min exhale and then immediately holding for 1 minute repeatedly is for training.

Good luck

Re: Is this traning good/bad?

I have tried tabels but i just wanna know if you can do this insted of CO2 tabels. I know theres a great diffrence between what im doing and CO2 tabels. Normally CO2 is 50% of you max then less and less rest and i just go whit 1min 2sec and so on.

You might try and PM Trux. He seems to know a lot about the physiology of apnea and trainning. Im sure he could give you a little insight on your technique

I think in that case, time of hold doesn't matter. What matters is whether you have contractions or not (high level of CO2). If you have contractions then you do modified CO2 table. If you don't feel high level of CO2 then you should increase the hold time to gain some benefit from this exercise.

Re: Is this traning good/bad?

I have contractions very early ones on the 8 hold about after 10-20sec and thay are hard endure. I have only tryed this one time. And it was alot harder than a "normal" co2 tabel. Due to the fact that theres alomst no rest( exhale then inhale and go again) the holds get very hard. Try for youre self and see. This was ca25%(pb 4:13) of my pb but im pretty confindent that i can do 33% of my pb. I think i will just stick to normal co2 tabels but i whould be nice to hear any of the pros comments to this traning.

I did similar exercise - one breath and hold - just once a few year ago with similar results as yours. Whole session took about 20 minutes and at the end I had contractions all the time, insane
In normal CO2 table you have to wait until CO2 raise to some level. This exercise is real shortcut you skip the easy phase and jump right into contractions.
Results of this practice was described for example in this thread: http://forums.deeperblue.net/freediv...ypothesis.html

Re: Is this traning good/bad?

Jonta,
Your idea sounds as good as any. Practice it for at least a few weeks, and then try a max hold to see if you've improved. There a lot of freedivers, and no single technique will work for everyone. If you don't improve, try something else ; )
Exploring what works best for you is the best thing you can do.
I either do pairs; breathe one, hold one, breathe 2, hold 2... and up to my max of 4 min, then back down
or I do a series of empty lung negatives, with one minute between holds, with a rather painful max once in a while of 120 seconds. Thats what seems to work best for me.
