Gorilla, welcome to DB
![]() There's lots of potential for help around here, but could You be more precise as to what kind of help You need? Try searching the forums for the keywords You have in mind, most questions have already been discussed on here and there's a wealth of information to be found on here with just a little digging. And one thing. How does one get into diving living in Las Vegas, of all places? ![]()

Thanks guys for all the info. Sanso- I got interested in this by trying to combine my obsessions for hunting and fishing. Plus, I saw the show on ESPN about spearfishing and was immediately hooked. The new challenge is that my lungs are severely scarred. If i go too deep I run the risk of having scarred tissue choking me to death. But as usual i don't care, and will fight as long as possible. I bought a pole spear to get started. It was cheap. I spear at pacific beach, san diego ca. This is a challenge because there is not a lot of game, except perch and sharks.

What are you lost with dude? I think you should have a word with your doctor about your lungs and ask him what the situation is just to be sure. If you do remember to memtion that it is breath hold diving not scuba.

there is plenty to do with a pole spear in pacific beach. It is in my opinion "the best way" to hone your skills in the water as a hunter. You have to get much closer with a pole than you do a gun thus improving your stalking abilities.
Just because there are lots of perch isnt a bad thing for a person just starting out either. you will find that each member of the perch species reacts differently to you. It is a great start to understanding how fish react to your movements and sounds. You have just started your trip into a very challenging, dangerous, fun and extrememly addicting sport. Take baby steps and learn as you go. This is a great forum for advise on equipment, safety and training but nothing will do more for you than time in the water. good luck Joel PS leave the sharks alone. |
