LeaderFins Freediving StereoFins Classic

Anyone had these fins before, just wondering what they are like.
Does the fiber glass make much of a difference?

Just looking for a general kind of idea about them, anything wrong with them too.

Cheers,
Sam.

Sam,
Could You post a link to more information about these fins? And have You searched through the forum already? I imagine there must be some information around already. If not, we're all eager to read about Your experience with them.

What do You want to do with them?

Re: LeaderFins Freediving StereoFins Classic

Sorry about that, very silly of me not to have a link its on the first post now. I'm just planing on using them for shallow to deep freediving and i have a set of Cressi Gara 3000s now and would like something with OMER foot pockets because I have fat feet. Then I found these and there not much more for fiber glass. Would like your thoughts.

Cheers, Sam

I have a pair of Freediving Stereofins Classic from Specialfins.com, from another Estonian company, and I'm quite pleased with them. Not the same, but very similar fins. Medium stiffness, compared to Gara 2000, they are much more snappier. I didn't really need glassfiber fins when I bought mine, but I needed bigger fins to fit neoprene socks too, so I thought I might just well "upgrade" from Gara 2000

In my opinion, very good fins, especially for the price.

Hi NotSoDeep,

Just wondering what the fins are like for surface swimming? I have a pair of Picasso Black Team fins and my legs get tired after about 1hour-1.5hours of surface swimming. I'm not sure if that's normal but I was wondering what the fibreglass might be like in the medium stiffess? I havent used any other fins and do like the picasso's alot but thought having another pair of blades might be good for those deep dives later on?

I haven't really done lots of surface swimming with mine, I mostly dive from boat, but I'd say that if you can manage 1.5 h with Picasso Black Team, you shouldn't have any problem with medium stiffness fiberglass fins, at least you would really quickly get used to them.

Re: LeaderFins Freediving StereoFins Classic

I went from Picasso Black Teams to SpecialFins medium Blue Water Special blades in the Picasso pockets. The SpecialFins blades are snappier, faster, and easier to use, especially on the surface. The only problem was I had to glue the blades in, and they come unglued at inopportune moments. I have changed to Omer pockets and they work great.

Cheers,
Sam.
Fiberglass fins are a good alternative to carbon blades fins, esp. for spearfishing purposes. They are not as effective as carbon fins, but close and can take quite a beating. I have not tried leaderfins. At this price I would certainly recommend Kaleidos / XXONE. Five grades of stiffness and plenty of colors to choose from, very flexible, and indestructible. In Greece and Italy these are THE bestseller for good reasons.

Re: LeaderFins Freediving StereoFins Classic

Hi, I have a pair of Leaderfins medium stiffness 'freediving stereofins with angle'. They are great fins though fairly soft for a medium fin.
A freediving mate has their medium stiffness 'freediving stereofin 2006' but thinks it is way too hard and has arranged to send it back.
I would venture a guess that the fin you are looking at stiffness-wise is like mine. In that case it is a really comfy fin for long time use (if you are comfy with OMER's stiff footpockets) and patrolling large distances, but purhaps not for boat diving quick up-and downs where I guess you would want more snap and stiffness to the blade.

Incidentally I managed to snap the rubber of the Omer footpocket during pool training (mega sprinting,- not really what they are buildt for I guess), and Maxim of Leaderfins replaced the footpocket free of charge. I have since bought their 'hard stiffness' lifesaving sprint fint 'Saver 160' for pool fitness training, and also use their hyper pro monofin for DYN.
I can only say that I am very satisfied. The guy (in charge ?!) Maxim is really good at replying to mails, and can normally give recommendations based on what you need the fins for. Incidentally not all the details turn out to be EXACTLY what you agreed on, but I have found that I have always recieved a great fin,- and that is the important bit.

Hope this helps a bit. All the best Martin
