Well crap! Have you seen the weather? I've all but given up on the season now. Maybe next year will be better, it can't get much worse that's for sure. The good thing about living up here in the Welsh riviera is that we are so close to the sea which makes it very easy to take advantage of the few decent opportunities to get out and do some spearing. We're also within 1/2 an hour of Snowdonia too which is stunningly beautiful whatever the weather.

Of course for every good thing there's a bad thing and being so remote is a pain. We're in a little fishing village which has become a kite and wind surfing mecca which has brought with it lots of small businesses selling tea and biscuits and other crap like that that trendy people just love to eat on a sunny day by the coast! Great you might think but as soon as the sun goes behind a cloud the village shut down and the tumble weed blows in.
So the residents of the village itself have nothing apart from a fish and chip shop and a post office. Another thing on much the same theme is the general lack of any sort of facilities, the nearest supermarket is 15 miles away which of course means driving and pumping more crap into the atmosphere.

I may of said that this winter for the first time in what seems like half a lifetime that I won't be tied to a PC for 18 hours a day and the prospect of having time to get some serious exercise in again was filling us both with some excitement. After some thought we decided as the nearest gym is 15 miles away that it would be non realistic to travel there 3 nights a week not only paying for petrol/pumping yet more crap into the atmosphere and taking up the whole evening. So we decided to build our own in the newly decorated spare bedroom. After scouring the internet for the best value kit we could find, we have bought and installed a decent exercise bike and a cross trainer to go with the weights and bench we inherited with the house. Well it's not as comprehensive as the public gyms but it is very convenient and it's a start, we'll get some more kit as we can afford it. Now all I need to do is convince the missus that we should swap the fish pond for a swimming pool!
