From Wence I Come & Once Upon a Time
Posted 2 Weeks Ago at 17:22 by slimsteve
April 27, 2008 Once upon a time I was a small lad, child of a military family, by the time
I was 13 I could drive/direct by memory the semiannual family trek, from Fort Sill Oklahoma
to Massachuestts and New Jersey. We Spent 4 or five summers in a row on the Jersey beach
between two large boardwalks. Rafting waves, soaking in the sun, first crush and she was
from Holland so international HMmmm; any way I regress to much. The New Jersey shore shaped
my inner being and defined what was and is still to this day, my perception of utopia. Its
not New Jersey, but it is the inner harmony of the senses, the mood and the lack of
mortality that accompanied my youth for several years; The hypnotic pounding of large slow
curlers, the certainy of the tides, the smells and sounds, all of this, absolutely all of it
while wrapped in the comforting warmth of the summer sun as I lay in the sand, anyone who
spent any time on a beach knows that place I talk about, the half dream half awake trance
that is true bliss. Time like a Salvador Dahli painting difted contentedly from one moment
to another. Nervana was made complete the first time I experinced the thrill of huge mile
long schools of 15 to 20 pound bluefish as they came ashoure using the shore to heard and
feast on schools of baitfish. I spent many afternoons fishing for fluke on partyboats. Once
my neighbor friend and I got an "ofical" certificate for catching more fishthe the entire
rest of the 20 people. I was hooked.
Two or three times a year the men of my father's family would go out with the Yankee fleet
in Glouscter Mass. I remember filling up a burlap sack each with large cod, hadick and even
halibut but by 1981 you would be lucky if 4 of you could get half a bag of fish. Lets get to
today and I'll fill in many empty spaces as we go on.
Today I decide to keep this blog/diary. I do so to provide an outlet for my slightly
obsessive personality, you know; the don't do anything halfway mentality and since I have no
ocean nearby this will be the focus of my energies.
I will lay out my master plan I mean plans.
Short peek at the current future inconclusive semiflexable goals:
