Hi, I'm going to Cuba and can't bring my own gun due to swedish regulations, so I need to buy a gun in Cuba. I got an address in Matanzas in a post on this forum, I think from christian-diver, but now I can't find the post. Anyhow it doesn't seem like we'll be going through Matanzas, so I figure Havana is my best shot of finding a decent gun. Does anyone have a good address? Any experience of buying a gun in Cuba?

Last time I went they only offered pneumatic guns (mostly italian). They are not very easy to get unless you go to dive shops inside hotels near the beach. Make sure you check on spearfishing regulations I heard that it was illegal to those that live there, I don't know if that would apply to you. In any case good luck. Matanza and Santiago de Cuba have some really good spearfishing spots.

I couldn't tell you, this was 5 years ago. All I can tell you is great visibility, friendly people, awesome spots and no fear of getting run over by a jet sky or anything like that since the population is so poor they don't have the money or own anything like that.

Did you do any spearing there? Did you bring your own gun, and if so, was there a problem bringing a speargun in to the country? Hope you don't mind all my questions, I haven't been able to get much info on this

Hola man
Hey I just found your post by listing my own threads. Unfortunately we probably won't go through Matanzas. Are there any other places you can recommend for spearfishing? I think well go somewhere on the coast west of Havana, then to Maria la gorda, then to Trinidad. Do you think I can find a good gun in Havana?

Havana is the Capital of Cuba, if you can't find it there you are in trouble. Check Hemingway Marina or something like that. Is like a tourist center, I am sure you could get one there if not they'll tell you where to go. Are you sure can't bring one with you?

Spearguns are under the same regulations as regular firearms in sweden. If I fly one out it's pretty evident that I had it in posession in the country, so you know. I have done it though but that was on a trip to norway and I did get a little nervous. I've been looking forward to going to cuba and I don't want to risk some hassle like customs taking my stuff and even worse making me miss the trip

you can do spearfishing in cuba--you just need to find the rigth person and good spearfisher person-there to guide you --- Daniel

ok here is the place
oh you say you are not plaing on goint to matanzas ? wwhy- the cost of havana and matanzas are close each other- 90 millas - one hour drive- I do not know about spearfishing in habana--- but well if you want you can past by where deborah has his" Apnea academy - is around there- playa del este( havana I think so ) not sure saludos
