I got a PM this mornng about this and the lights went out. Alison and Colin were in Sri Lanka when my wife and I were drinking a beer with Sands at Summer Island last year. We left a week before they were going to and... well... we missed the Tsunami. They didn't. I will miss her funny replies to some of my rather off-color comments among other things.
A Gaelic Blessing (Words adapted from a set of Gaelic Runes and put in to an arrangement by John Rutter) for Ali and Colin. Deep Peace of the running wave to you Deep Peace of the flowing air to you Deep Peace of the quiet earth to you Deep Peace of the shining stars to you Deep Peace of the gentle night to you Moon and Stars pour their light on you Deep Peace of Christ, the light of the world, to you Peace my friends... we will miss you

Jez I can't believe it.
Alison is always at hand with advice & encouragement for us budding new spearos. With the internet, it seems we are all not far apart. Alison is... to our community -- she will be sorely missed...conspicuous by her absence. Hopefully, we have all learnt enough from her to continue to help each other with that warm comaraderie Alison specialised in. Thankfully her contribution has been captured & lives on in the forums.I am just gobsmacked. How awful. Such a good person. Hopefully Alison & Colin have found their own happy hunting ground, with superb beaches & clear seas. Where the yellow and blue fin tuna are plentiful, out numbered only by superb bass and huge Spanish mackeral. ![]() "Dead, did I say? --There is no death, only a change of worlds." - Chief Seattle Last edited by Mr. X; October 31st, 2005 at 22:11. |

This is awful news, I felt sick when I read the first post.
My sincere condolences to the families, Alison was a guiding light to all on this forum, witty and very welcoming. I will miss them both. I never met them in person but had many exchanges with them electronically. RIP

I always enjoy reading posts by Colin and Alison. They struck me as unusually witty and vivacious people. Alison's posts gave me hope as a rank amateur spearo - she never looked down on those less proficient. Both of them had rare senses of humor. To say that I will miss them is an understatement; there are no words to express a loss like this. God be with their family, and with us.

Words cannot describe this tragic loss of two very special people. They will be greatly missed.
Alison was truly a Team Leader and to many she was also an inspiration, a mentor and a friend. Her communications were always kindhearted, welcoming, informative and hillarious. My deepest condolences to all who were associated with them. Forever Rest in Peace Last edited by Lachlan; November 1st, 2005 at 01:14. |

She was a truly amazing woman, smart, inspiring, witty, sharing and supporting. Her love and passion for Colin always came trough when she wrote. We shared the passion for travelling as well as diving. They were a couple very much alive with so many plans now abruptly aborted.
Sincere condolences to the family and friends. RIP Alison and Colin Mia Last edited by mia; November 1st, 2005 at 12:19. |
