NEW FEATURE: News Postings

You may have started noticing that new threads are appearing from a new user called NewsBot. This isn't some weird new member but an automated system that takes News from our News Site and posts it to the forums to allow members to discuss what is happening in the news.

Seriously, I use the "New Posts" function and it's flooded with NewsBot posts which is annoying to have to scroll through. As a loyal DB user i'm happy to look at the home page for the new news articles.

It's just today as it catches up with all the old posts. After now it will only post when a news item comes up (generally 2 or 3 posts a day).

It is actually a feature that people have asked for hence why it's been implemented

Seriously, I'm not happy with it. 2 or 3 posts a day is a lot, and it creates a lot of clutter to scroll and search through. I'm sure most of the threads will remain with 0 replies.

Maybe I'm outnumbered on this one...

Let the thing bed in. We normally give it a month before judging if a new feature has been a success.

BTW - 2 or 3 posts a day is not much compared to the 150 - 200 posts we get a day. I took a good look at the stats before deciding whether to try and implement the new feature. It's only because there have been 70 news items posted by the bot today that you even notice it.
