Major Upgrade to Forums

The vendor who sells the software this forum runs on (vBulletin) has announced a major new version being released (3.7.0).

We will be upgrading to this version in the next few days and will start implementing a lot of the new features available.

Here are a number of new features being included in the upgrade:

• Thread tagging
• Search cloud / tag cloud
• Reciprocal friendships between users
• Public visitor messaging on profile pages with 'conversation' feature
• User-created social groups with invite only and moderated membership options
• Extended member profile pages
• Customizable member profile pages with admin-controlled styling abilities
• Lightbox viewer for attached images
• Multiple human-verification systems including reCAPTCHA, image verification and Q/A
• User change history
• Social bookmarking integration

Expect to see some forum downtime whilst upgrades go on.

I like especially the possibility of adding tags (keywords) to threads (just above the Quick Reply box)!

I'm noticing some nice stuff too!....But it does seem a bit slower to load a page?

What I'm finding is the confirmation pages that now show whenever you do something, such as when you reply to a post, or when you "mark forums read" etc. Before there was a smooth transition from your input, and now there is a "forumus interrruptus" , anyway to turn off these transition pages?

plus one! Searching new posts in particular is very annoying now.
