Hi, I made a "custom" gun last fall based on an AB biller design. It has the Biller handle and muzzle, so obviously the wood is basically the same shape as a regular, store bought biller.
So I was wondering what reel I could put on it? Obviously a biller reel would work, but i was wondering if there were any other brands that would fit. Thanks, Ian |

You could check out the RIFFE, it is set up to mount to the side of the gun and have the reel sit in an "Up" position. I have both the Rob Allen Stainless reel and the new Rob allen composite reel, both are very well built and can be mounted to a wood gun with little mods. The Rob Allen reels mount on their sides, so I guess its a matter of personal pref.

I was really looking at the omer reel because its pretty inexpensive. I know that the Riffe on runs for around a hundred dollar (usd) and most of rob allen's stuff is pretty expensive as well...

Check out the Sporosub reel. Its low profile, has a few mounting options, has a good drag, simple and easy to clean. I have had one on my Riffe for 2 years and it has held up really well. I think they are pretty affordable too.

The sporasub reel looks interesting. I'll look into it as well.
I still don't know for sure if its possible to mount the Omer reel on a wood gun though. That would probably be my first choice. Second choice would be a Biller reel (but only if someone will back it up. Biller stuff has never inspired confidence in me) |
