how do I store my gun with the shaft inside or left out?

I am going to store my rubber style European style guns (Tri X) for a while
they are ready to go sort of thing and stored in a case and all too...

now if the water ever clears I will be out but it might not clear for months with all the flooding here..... boo hoo!!!!!

anyways do I store the spear shaft loaded inside the gun like I was going to fire it or is that bad for the gun mech to store the shaft in the gun ready to shoot 4 a long time?

or do I leave it just out so the spring inside the trigger of the gun isn't engaged

will that be a better way to store it that way?

how do I store my gun with the shaft inside or left out?

thanks Aya in Thailand

I suppose it's better to store them with the shaft out if you have a rack or somewhere safe for it but I don't, I just leave it in

same here. I guess that shaft out is better to avoid stress on the trigger's spring, but anyway I store them shaft-in, with no damage ever.
Before storing, wash well with fresh water and drop a little lube inside the trigger mech seat.

I would use silicone spray (food grade) to spary the trigger mechanism inlet and between the trigger itself.

Anywhere you see holes & gaps at the handle area..........example where the spear butt enters, around the trigger...etc.

Re: how do I store my gun with the shaft inside or left out?

I shouldn't make any difference, anywear i see a gun its allways with the spear inside. As for stressing in the spring, it would take decades just like that. Mines are allway with the shaft loaded.

The bands on the other hand sould be very well cleaned, try to extend then so you can rinse between the plastic and rubber, spray them with silicone and keep them away for light and heat sources. The best place is the fridge (were didi i read this)

Re: how do I store my gun with the shaft inside or left out?

I keep my 60cm and my 75cm with the spear in the trigger mechanism all the time.
It’s only the 90cm that lives with the spear out and that’s only because it won’t fit in the boot of my fishing car with the spear in.

Well you poor welsh boys, while I ride around in my car (now I’ve got to be a bit careful here) at least you’ve got plenty of sheep to …. Around.

Re: how do I store my gun with the shaft inside or left out?

You English boys know nothing! All you think sheep are for is for carnal pleasure. Anyone with any sense knows they are for pulling your work cart
Anyway, when it comes to asking where to lubricate your shaft ask a Welshman coz we do it for longer
