Spearing the azores

I'm racing to Horta in the azores early next month and if the wind gods are kind I will have a few days spare there to drink and relax!
I'm going to bring my gun but does anyone have hints/tips/contacts.
I'm not into Big Game spearing but seeing these beasts would be fun.
Dont intend to shoot anything that wont fit on a BBQ

Re: Spearing the azores

European spearfishing supplies, if they are still around, used to organise trips over there. They are based in UK, google it and ask for colin or paul.

Re: Spearing the azores

The race I am doing ends up at Sao Miguel so a bit south of you but still looking forward to it. Start is tomorrow and we should take 8-10 days depending on weather and breakages. Any good watering holes in ponta del Garda???
I'll catch up when I get there

Re: Spearing the azores

Thanks
My crewmate and skipper (its a two handed race) has never been spearfishing so I'm taking both guns. Race starts in 1 hour so better get going
