Who is the dive on Martha's Vinyard?

The family and I were just on vacation this past week, a few hundred miles north on Cape Cod Mass, and the island of Martha's Vinyard. While walking through a community of beautiful cottages on Martha's Vinyard, I passed by and noticed some freediving gear drying in a yard. I immediately recognized the low volume mask and the Sporasub fins. I passed by several times in hopes of striking up a conversation with the diver but no such luck. The family vacations always means going a couple of weekends without diving, but meeting another freediver on vacation would have gotten me through till getting back.

One of the highlights of our vacations in New England includes eating much lobster, that appears to be very abundant, being sold fresh on almost every corner, and served at all restaurants. I wondered how far out and deep one must dive for lobster on the cape. And does one need a permit to dive for it. What kind of visibility do you typically experience up there, how long is the diving season.

Who ever this diver is, I hope you are a Deeper Blue member and are reading this. Please feel free to e-mail or PM me.

Thanks, Jim

Bug Hunt?

Jim,

Maybe we should go out on a bug hunt one of these days for a change of pace. I think that the NJ laws on lobster are pretty liberal compared to the laws in most of the New England states.
