life off the beach

Hopefully this isn't a repeat of previous threads(I'm sure it is).....my question is kind of an opinion on my situation..I am a grad student who does not own a boat to dive off of (although I have plenty of friends who do..yet who can pay for gas now adays).....I'm thinking of kayaking off the beaches in my area (Deerfield-Hollywood) do you think its worth the trouble or should I just pay the money for my friends to take me out on their boats????? If its worth it what beaches produce??????

Cheers

Re: life off the beach

Most of the time I just use my buddies rides, its not so bad since its every other week. I also enjoy going with a dive partner, I'm not much into the solo gig. Although a kayak would be sweet to use of the beach, as long as the surf isn't out of hand haha. The reef line by your area is relatively close to shore, as far as exact location I wouldn't know but Ive had buddies that were quite successful from shore in that area.

Re: life off the beach

what Mahi said is right on...Dania's reef line is swimable too, kayak will work also and off hallandale kayak can also be used and less hunt pressure (because its not easily approached by swimming out)...IMO both are good 9-10 you'll shoot more fish from a boat/ski and truthfully being a new owner (PWC) I can tell you paying $30-50 to go out with friends is a bargain compared to owning...just pick your days is all!

The Kayak thing is Ok. I have a Tandom Kayak and I love it, BUT. By the time you Drag that Kayak out to the shore, save yourself the Hassle. Rember, I have found Its easier to just jump in and swim out to where you need to be. If your going out to the 4th reef you will pass the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd reef and U want to be in the water w/gun in hand. I have a 5' board that I bring. Let me know when u want to go.
