Afterwork relief dive Foundeset style

Last saturday I went diving with Jim(FreediveChicago) to my favorite quarry in Kankakee, IL. I named this post "Foundeset style" because water was 42F and we were chasing the fish with the camera. I was planning to do some training with free immersion and negative pressure dives at 15-20ft but that didn't really work well. At 42F I was cold during breath up, 5 minute breath up was hard to do as well as empty lung sitting at 20 ft, we cased it after three series and decided to find some fish instead. We also went to sunken boat at 45ft.
Once we began to swim I got warm & comfortable so after all we managed to stay in water for almost 3 hours. In the summer time fish is all over me at this quarry and sometimes they even bite me little bastards, this time they were very shy and there was very few of them. It was hard to find one and then it was hard to approach it.
If I was a spearo I would be hungry that day, and again I realized how hard it is to make good underwater pictures. There is couple Paddlefish in this quarry called Spoonbills, I dove with them before and it was amazing, they're huge like sharks, 4-6ft (in Mermet Springs). Unfortunatelly we didn't encounter one that day although one scuba who was leaving when we got there said he saw couple.
I don't have room anymore to upload pictures, they're not so good anyway but I made short video and here's the link

I want to find and tape these beautifull fish so bad, if You want to join me for the "hunt" let me know, it would be perfect if You had a fish finder, we could use kayak to locate them, it should be easy as they are big and stay together in the group

Chilling story. But you mistyped the nickname: correct spelling is Fundesoet.

LOL Of course Spaghetti is right.

Nice video, Nostres. I like your soundtrack too.

Paddlefish are very cool - I have never seen one in the wild.

You should come here and visit some time! Right now the water is wonderfully clear and there are big pike and walleye lounging around on the bottom. It is still 37F though - but the fish are moving more so I think it'll warm up soon.
