Hi !
Myself and 3 buddies have recently returned from a spearo trip down the Southern cape Coast, I have posted pics from the trip, but on the way back, we found a river with a cave full of trout. We soon realised that trout are extremely nervous and skittish fish underwater, so the following technique is advised. The spearfisherman needs to hide all spearfishing equipment, including mask, fins, wetsuit, gun and snorkel, prefably under a rock near enough to make a fast 'snatch' and shot. You then need to appraoch the trout, and feign friendlieness..the best results seem to come from a big smile and thumbs up try and assure the trout that it's merely a friendly visit. In the pic below, note how the spearo's intentions seem perfectly harmless and friendly, ...in this 'trouts eye view', his speargun and floatline are cleverly camoflaged under the rock bottom left of pic. Moments after this picture was taken, he blurred into action, but unfortunately, he missed. We think the trout in question was alerted by the 'false grin'. Regards Jeff. PS, apologis for this bull-&*%# post, but I have'nt dived for a while !!

Apologies accepted. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get in the water before the men in the white coats arrive.
LOL Bill
