hello,
due to a stupid discopathy( this is a very painful disease that comes from a spinal problem) I have to use sometime anti -inflamatory drugs. I wonder if someboady could tell me if some dangerous situation can occure when I freedive because of this kind of drugs.(I use only nonsteroidal like diclofenac sodium, ketoprofen and aspirin or paracetamol for the pain). Ok? Thanks |

hi soki
from my scuba experience basically every dive organisation i am aware of says no to diving on medication. now that you are freediving and obviosuly dont have those underwatertimes as if you were wearing a tank doesnt mean pressure doesnt effect you. most medications are not tested for their effects under hyperbaric conditions so there is no saying that a short divetime couldnt have negative sideeffects. the best to do would be to not dive at all until you are off those drugs, or you consult a diving physician (not a regular physician, since from personal experience iŽd say many have not much of an idea about what goes on under pressure) and get his approval. if there should be a hyperbaric chamber with qualified staff in your area ask there. hope you get better soon roland |

hi,
I'll better try accupuncture instead of drugs. That's because here noboady 's interested in studies that you said(like hyperbaric and so...). I found somes sites on internet about diving and side effects of some drugs...but I'll better no take the risk. |
