Can your breath kill you in a deep dive?

well i know that when doing deep scuba diving, you need special gasses as certain gasses at high compression will hurt/kill/disorientate you. now the natural things in your body obviously wont kill you, but say you ate... mint. at like 300 feet could the gases of the mint (or whathever you ate) be toxic?

Thanks -Matt
