Re: -3000m Constant Weight dive Video

the situation is indeed incredible, but the video ? just a video

in description of this whale I found:

"After five and a half minutes the whale reaches five hundred meters (1640 feet). Humans can live and work down here but it takes days of compression to get there and days of decompression to get back." - do divers really work like this ? over 500m down, few days of deco ? wow

or "After eleven minutes (...) she is about 1000 meters (...) At this depth the air in the whale's body is one percent of its original volume, and it is 100 times more dense. "

"A typical dive lasts 60 minutes. No one knows how long a sperm whale can hold its breath but estimates range from 90 minutes to 2 hours." - so one hour is 'jus a dive' so what can be the record ?

and this I find amazing

Wow.... How dose this guy move? He/she is doing a 40 to 60 degree downward twist and the flippers are flat on the sides.

If I want to do that, there is a lot of howering with the hands. Evolution pisses me off some times! I feel deceived!

Dose anyone know how to pre book reincarnation?

Re: -3000m Constant Weight dive Video

Glenn,

will you put the movie back on your site sometime? I am sure the hits won't be so high forever and I'd love to see it.
Anyway, the subject of this thread is wrong. It is known that sperm whales perform variable weight, not CWT. The "sperm" or oily substance in their heads solidifies in the cold water and drags them down (yes 3000m, not feet). At depth, they are able to warm it up by forcing blood circulation around it, hence it liquifies again and helps them with an uplift. Perhaps Herbert is studying something similar for his next 1000ft attempt?:-)

Re: -3000m Constant Weight dive Video

Where else could we find this video, as the link provided has a message saying it is no longer available?!
Guess the site was getting too much traffic.
Thanks
