Re: Support the completion of The Greater meaning of Water

I'm new at this sort of thing, so I'd better ask: Should I keep making a donator's list with people's real-world names? I've already been fragged for it in my PM box.
The reason I wanted to display people's names was 1) a token of appreciation and 2) I was hoping to find names like Will Winram or Herbert Nitsch et al on the list as the fund raise progresses.

What are your opinions?

If somebody makes a donation he can put his name or nickname (if it should be published) into the infobox at PayPal. If there's no name or nickname, you shouldn't publish it.

Re: Support the completion of The Greater meaning of Water

Well, PayPal doesn't work like that. I get people's real names in the transaction. I have so far, anyway.
In the first post of this thread, I did note that people can inform me if they wish to donate anonymously, but people might miss that at a quick glance.

I mean the place where you can enter (optional) notes.
You could enter: 'Support for completion of Greater Meaning of Water / rbsub'.

Re: Support the completion of The Greater meaning of Water

Nick names only, all right.

And supporters who are not DB users? (I have advertised this fund raise to I don't know how many people already. Feel free to copycat me on that one, by the way.)

Re: Support the completion of The Greater meaning of Water

List non DB users as anonymous until you get permission from them to have their real name up on an online forum. Maybe just put "Anonymous: 3" for the number of people who have donated but wish to remain anonymous (including DB users). If you still want to list how much they donated, then just list the total that all anon. users have donated.

Obviously listing business/corporate donations are good, maybe double check with Papa Smurf about listing them with a link to their site to make sure he is OK with it.

Question Re: Support the completion of The Greater meaning of Water

No word from Sky? Guess this project is a dead duck? Maybe I should make it available for download but how does one do that with that size file? (this prospect might catch Sky's attention!)

Re: Support the completion of The Greater meaning of Water

Sky said he'd post in here, it was a few days ago. He might be busy, I don't know.

About the file, we're talking about the precut, right? How big a file are we talking about, in the gigs? I might be able to find a server somewhere.

Re: Support the completion of The Greater meaning of Water

I am very hesitant to release something that isn't mine to the whole world, so lets just give Sky a few more days to get back to us. If nothing happens soon then I would love people to have the opportunity to see what is a great film.

Smile Re: Support the completion of The Greater meaning of Water

Hi Everyone,

I want to express my deepest gratitude for this fund raising thread.

An update on the project: We are going to attempt to finish the film during July and August. We currently do not have enough funds to get past the first step of the post-production process (see below), but Justin Williford (the lead actor) is flying up here (Seattle) tomorrow and we are going to take a chance and at least get the ball rolling.

Once Justin gets here, we will have to take it day by day. With each segment of any further funds that are raised, we will be able to take another step of the post-production process. I have worked out deals with two sound studios that are being very supportive and giving us indy rates.

Specifically these are:

1. Recording voiceovers from the lead actor ($1k)
2. Editing the final scenes and adjusting for the voice over ($2k)
3. Recording foley sound effects in a studio ($1k)
4. Producing digital sound effects to enhance the diving/ocean ($1k)
5. Fine cutting the sound/visual edits ($1.5k)
6. Mixing and mastering the sound tracks ($2.5k)
7. Final color correction and film looks for the HD footage ($2k)
8. Output and encoding for DVD, HD-DVD, and BlueRay ($2.5k)
9. Duplication and packaging ($1.5k upwards)
10. Setting up CC billing page on website ($200)
11. SHIP DVD's and fulfill orders! ($400 upwards)
12. Submit to festivals ($2k)

General Equipment/Travel/Living for post ($8k)

If we work together, I should be able to send out DVD's in a few months!

Fingers crossed,

-Sky Christopherson
