Great pics and vids!!!
I was in Umkomaas juni 2006 and it was absolutly awsome! If you want tigers and blacktips, this is the place to go... But some weeks ago I heard that 8 tigers were caught off Aliwal by fishermen. ![]() Manuel |

That is incredible!! Is that normal that there are that many sharks in one area?

Awesome pictures! It takes serious guts not to pee in the pants when faced with one of these mammoths in the water. Or maybe I'm just being chicken here. I have tremendous respect for these animals in the water. I was in Umkomaas in June-July 2004 to dive Aliwal Shoals and later to Gaansbai for cage diving with white sharks. Never saw any tigers unfortunately. But I vividly remember the first moment I saw a great white appear underwater. Moments ago, I was thinking about how friggin cold I was and choppy it was in the cage, feeling like I was standing in a washing machine. When the shark appeared, all time stood still and all thoughts of the cold and waves disappeared and I just stared at the massive approaching siloutte and went "waaaa........" Priceless experience. Now at Chinese wedding dinners where sharks fins soup is inevitably served, I turn it down and proceed to preach anti-finning but I'm not sure how many people actually pay attention instead of rolling their eyes at me going "whatever..."
