Ive have a slightly modded JBL woody sawed off magnum but wanted a gun with more reach, accuracy, and power... basically a blue water capable gun. The JBL is great in the reef but lacks certain refined qualities. I was looking into some rail guns and the Riffe Comp 4s...... well I wound up going with the Andre Gold 145. It's stock measures 57" open track and has a 9/32 60" shaft along with three 5/8 bands. The craftsmanship is just awesome, can't wait to test it out =p. I was wondering if anyone here owns one or shot one?? Loading may be a pain, here are some pics

Mahi,
I just picked up one my self. Did you get the enclosed track model? I did and it seem like it is gona be dead spot accurate. We have been lacking the vis these past two week here in Southern Calif due to heavy swells comin from all directions latley. But plannin to be using it soon. If you beat me to the punch let me know your take on the gun and I will do the same. I did rig mine with a breakaway and a new Riffe shaft with a slip tip. good luck Joel |

Hey joel, glad to hear I'm not the only one around here haha. I went with the open track which has a deeper track than I thought it would originally, works out fine. They say the enclosed track is a bit more accurate but I think I'll be fine

I wish my shaft had the three tabs, loading is guna be a hassle. I'll think of something, maybe having to do with a little bit of welding haha. I'm curious to see your setup, mind posting up some pics?? Keep those gills wet before you lose them =p
BTW what kind of hunting are you planning on using the gun for, if you don't mind me asking? |

Mahi,
Yeah when I get home from work today I will snap some photos and send them your way. I picked it up mainly for the spring and summer here when we get in the White Sea Bass and Yellowtail directly off our coast and also Catalina Island which is short boat ride gets both of the above and also pelagics like Dorado and others depending on what the water conditions bring us. I usually use Euro guns, I have a couple Rob Allens from 80cm to 120cm and a 100cm Rabitech. I have the total addiction to gear. I am planning a Mexico trip for next year and have TUNA on my mind. I am planning to pick up a Darryl Wong Ono, but $1300.00 is a tuff pill to swallow. Ill get the picks out to ya Good luck, Joel |

Mahi,
thanks! I picked up the line release trick and the s.s 2.0mm spring over the mono where the shooting line loops thru the tab on the shaft from Bill in the Rigging a gun forum(not sure if you can see in the pic) Good luck this weekend. I went out yesterday after work for a couple hours and shore dove some kelp beds about 300 yds off shore but the vis wasnt that great, prob 10 ft at 40-45feet. No sign of anything worth shooting though but was still a nice couple hours in the water. good luck Joel |

joel,
That line release trick is quite slick indeed haha! Its a bit difficult to see the whole setup from the pics but I get ya. Glad you were able to at least get out on the water.... soo I take it you didn't shoot the gun ?? Still like you mentioned its always nice to get out there. You dive solo in those kelp beds?-Andrew |
