Saw this on YouTube last night and first impressions what a brilliant idea, but now I just think the mechanism wouldn't stand up to the rigors of the sea. (mind you I don't fully understand everything he is saying, so he might be saying it's built like a brick toilettes!!)

That's interesting John. There was a thread going a while back about building a custom float. Personally I hate all floats and while I recognise the safety aspect I go without if I can (not often). I really hate complicated gadgets when diving (more to go wrong/tangle etc.). However if you got to have one there are some good ideas on this one. I like the retractable line but would want to try thay in practice.
Did note one point about stringing the first mullet. Stringer in mouth and out gills . It'll fall off under its own weight if you do that.Good thread for the tackle geeks this one. I'll see if I can find the floats thread and put on a link. Dave

I really like the retractable line thing. I tried swimming around with my float trailing behind me once. It sucked. The line always got tangled up in my fins when I dove or swam on the surface (wait a second - thats all the time!). Maybe having a retractable thing would keep it under control. They do sell marine grade retractable line things that are far less complicated that that guys system. I was thinking such a device would be a great belt stringer.

I think the stringer clips back onto the float after you thread the fish on.
I use a spetton float and make a habit of pushing the stringer into one of the loops after I thread the fish on, it also keep the float tidy and helps stop tangling

Interesting ideas, really like the automatic line retrieval thing, wonder how its done? Like the storage area and gun attachments too, not so keen on the flag, although I think all that twisting could be connected to the line retreival?? As for the float itself the shape looks a little brick like. Think it would tow like a hog. Any ideas what the materials are? Guessing some of this was answered in the video but I have no sound and looks like it was probably in French anyway,
Joe
