Hi all,
I've been spear fishing for 3 months in Croatia this summer. I was reading a local magazine in which they discussed some courses aimed at free divers and spear fisherman who want to increase the amount of time they can stay under water. They made claims of people going from 1min30sec to 4min after the 5 day course. One of the exercises mentioned was the "negative diaphragm exercise" I tried to find some information on the net about this and similar exercises but failed. Anyone got some links? Thanks |

Hi Vjanda,
Look for 'Reverse packing' and Uddyana bandha (Yoga technique) in the Advanced Search button-option. Good luck, Edu

One and a half min to about four sounds about right. I can normaly get somebody from 30seconds to about 2min 30 in about 2-3 hours in a relaxed enviroment. Apnea walking is still the best training aid as far as Im concerned. Just find a nice soft field and walk as far as you can holding your breath. Give your self three times your walk duration as recovery and see if you can go a bit further.. DONT HOLD YOUR BREATH WHILST DRIVING!!! good luck.
