Re: Mediterranian Spearo

Good idea Paddy. Keep 'em coming. I'll help with some stories and tips.
Me I can't help much with pics (never had the habit to take photos of my catch, for no reason in particular) but it's so true this forum is craving for some fresh fish to watch. Only the Guernsey boys are posting images of fish recently...
BTW: so what gun are you getting? Cayman or T20?

Re: Mediterranian Spearo

First off, I think we should make a Med thread on the model of Guernsey, Cornwall, South Devon etc to saher experience of spearos in this area and also for discussing on everything.
On the gun question, as I replied in another thread, you can't go wrong either way. The Cayman HF is said to have a stiffer barrell, a better trigger mech, a more comfortable handle, a more sophisticated design, but it's much more expensive. And then for what spending so much money?
I've been hunting for years with the T20's (both carbon and alluminium) and they're really good: light, accurate, durable, with a strong trigger, good bands, good shaft, at a reasonable price. If you buy a 100, you don't even nedd to buy carbon: the alluminium will do good.
Till 4 weeks ago I had a T20 carbon that I decided to sell, but it's no more at my disposal: one day my buddy borrowed it to give it a try, and on his first dive with my T20 he shot 2 big mullets (two!!) with one single shot!!. When I saw him surface with the two fish on the spear I did what I had to for such a splendid double catch: "Ok - I said - now it's your gun", and gave it to him for free as a compliment gift...

Re: Mediterranean Spearo

Hi to all .
I am off to Mallorca 6th October for 2 weeks & would like some advice .
Is spearfishing allowed ?
If it is what guns are you allowed to use ?
What are the best areas to dive in ?
Which fish are the best to eat ?
Thanks in anticipation .
mikel

Re: Mediterranean Spearo

The best site for all the information you are looking for, that most members speak English on anyway, is;

www.medfish.com

You can spearfish in Mallorca but some areas are reserves and you need a license which can be obtained locally. Ask the guys on the aforementioned forum
