- Grew up in Miami, Florida. Lots of free diving and scuba as a teenager. I love to be under water. At age 16, in 1959, with no technical knowledge, I pulled a Shallow Water Blackout in a pool. At that time, my dynamic no fin distance was not quite 100 meters (kicking off the side every 15 meters). I spent a couple of days in the hospital. Could have been worse. Tonight, 11Nov05, I just discovered static and dynamic apnea on the internet. The information is absolutely fascinating. At over 50, I've been afraid to push any limits. However, reading just a smattering of what is now known, I'm really excited to safely extend my bottom time.
