Re: waterway glide vs. leaderfins hyper

I was angling myself to go downwards. The pool varies in depth, and I like to follow the bottom closely.

Yes I know it is a horrible photo, I asked myself whether I should post it. I did notice my feet were at wrong angles, but it was the only moment in the video where one can see the bending clearly. My sister had forgotten to bring goggles and was filming blindly.

This is from the 'giperfin' Ukranian swimfin site

Re: waterway glide vs. leaderfins hyper

Hi guys,
I found this thread since I am about to buy monofins and want to start out good. I hoped to be able to draw a clear conclusion about which fin to choose, but it still feels like a gamble. I was thinking either hyperfin pro (leaderfin) or the glidefin (waterway) or the gripper or the cobra (andronov) (http://www.schwimmen-shop.de/product_info.php?info=p20010415_Monoflosse--Cobra-.html).
I will use the fin for freediving and therefore I think that I would be most pleased with a fin which gives a GLIDE feeling and has good manouverability. I only dive to depths of 4-5 meter max and do some snorkling and like to stay under water as long as possible. I like to make some speeds on surface for distances of 500m as well.
Are there people out there who have used some of the above mentioned monofins and can recommend me one? That would be great!
I hope to hear from you soon, since summer drifts by quickly!
Vincent

Re: waterway glide vs. leaderfins hyper

Vince, have a look at http://forums.deeperblue.net/monofin...uipment-4.html. In this thread you'll see that the owner requested for his footpockets to be made bigger to accomodate neoprene socks. You can go that path too, and still have a hyperfin to glide.

Re: waterway glide vs. leaderfins hyper

Thanks Salibandy! You are a FAST girl, probably wearing fast monofins I have never had such a quick response on any question on the net! I will check it out.
Do you recommend to go for a larger size to fit in neoprene socks even when always diving in pleasant temperatures?

Re: waterway glide vs. leaderfins hyper

Mr Vince, I believe I'm the same gender as you, that is, if you're a dude. Don't worry, I've been mistaken for a female many times in my life because of my hair and size.

If you order from that guy Max, he'll do the necessary adjustments for you. Just tell him you want to fit in with socks, 5mm or 3mm or whatever.

His hyperfins are good. I know. I started the trend of ordering from him.

Oh I missed your question. I don't know. My feet get cold easily, and I'm not wearing a sock.

Re: waterway glide vs. leaderfins hyper

yeah you keep causing confusion, this time it's not your hair but your name, it gets so close to Sally that I assumed...
Thanks for recommending socks to keep my feet warm, that's nice.
I am not such a fast surfer, I am still checking the Triton equipment site and I was wondering if Triton would make a better performing Hyper fin than the hyper pro Leaderfin I had my eye on originally.

Re: waterway glide vs. leaderfins hyper

Well no one here owns both fins, so we cannot do a side to side comparison. I can tell you that my hyperfin from Max has no v bend whatsoever. It's very efficient.

Max makes his fins for the Ukranian National Team for finswimming, which means he makes fins for world champions.

Re: waterway glide vs. leaderfins hyper

Hi Vincent,

What you could perhaps do is visit one of the freediving clubs here in The Netherlands. This way you can try some different monofins to get a better feeling for what you want.

cheers,
Eric, Utrecht

Re: waterway glide vs. leaderfins hyper

So then I can best get a hyper fin pro out Ukrainia from Max, I think I have read about him somewhere in this 10page long topic.
But champ teams are not in need for much manouverability, but this fin has that as well anyway I presume, thanks

Re: waterway glide vs. leaderfins hyper

Hi Eric, that's a good tip as well! I noticed that we have some on the forum from the Netherlands. Do you have a webpage for me from such a club? Then I'll find my way from there on to one near Groningen where I live. Welke fin gebruik jij dan?

Re: waterway glide vs. leaderfins hyper

Currently I train static in Zeist and dynamic+static in Haarlem. I own a soft Leaderfins Hyper Pro. The footpocket was too tight for me so I spend the last couple of days adjusting it and hope to use it more when summer ends. (currently DNF mostly)

Eric

EDIT: BTW There are some freediver in Friesland

Oh... What I meant to say was: have a look at DFA - Dutch Freediving Association . This is the dutch AIDA branch where you will find information about clubs, etc..
