what equipment do you have so far?

my girlfriend and i were planning a trip to catalina soon, in the next few weeks or so. maybe we could get together and dive. i dont know the island too well, and will likely just find neat spots out of the swim areas of avalon.

anyone else know good spots in catalina?

Re: Freediving and spearfishing beginner in PV/Catalina

I have all the stuff i need besides a stringer. but For beginners, i think the front side near the rocky beaches would be a great place to start. Backside has had Great white spottings, so id like to stay away from that, although i did dive backside kelpbed which was awesome, saw more baby calicos thatn i have ever seen. Also alot of bass and sheephead hangout there.

there was also alot of white sea bass on the frontside.

Lets dive sometime! what kind of boat do you have? mind me ask your age? im 24 EDIT** saw ur profile ur 22! great age! u got AIM? in om all the time 'xahx' hit me up and well plan a dive!

Hello Xahx,
I chase the Calico Bass around the kelp beds off of PV. Let me know if you are still looking. I have all my gear. Usually go out of Pt. Vicente Fishing Access close to the end of Hawthorne Blvd and PV Blvd.
