Smile Need San Diego free diving/spear fishing buddy

I am looking for a free diving buddy on the weekend of June 27,28,29 in the San Diego area. I have always wanted to dive the California kelp forests. So hopefully someone who knows the area and where some good places are to dive. However I am flexible to go outside of San Diego if necessary. I am 23, can dive over 25 meters, and have been free diving since I was 12. If anyone is interested please contact me. THANKS!

Logansan,
I'll PM you with some phone numbers of members of the San Diego Freedivers.
We welcome visitors, and most are willing to get out there with you.
We might have some of our famous 'June Gloom'--- but the temps are rising. Water was 62 degrees today. Went out today and yesterday w/out wetsuit!
That's some kind of record for me as far as 'early' in the year!

Re: Need San Diego free diving/spear fishing buddy

I'm looking for someone to dive with. I usually dive La Jolla, like windansea or boomers or sometimes the shores if visibility isn't so great elsewhere. Been diving seriously since summer; my max depth so far is 52ft and I'm working on increasing my underwater breathholds. I have a polespear too, so I'm up for some spearing. PM me and let me know.

Re: Need San Diego free diving/spear fishing buddy

Hey guys, good to see others getting some use out of this thread. My time diving in San Diego was awesome. The best of course was Lajolla cove, amazing place. Wish I could be diving there now instead of being landlocked here in Denver. 52 feet is great for starting out "none". Keep diving and your time will get better and better. Just be safe and always have a dive buddy with you. SWB is a real danger, its happened to me and is deadly if you don't have a dive buddy there with you. I too have a pole spear and want to get into spear fishing but am a little landlocked at the moment. Look forward to visiting San Diego again, great diving. Be safe and have fun.
