O-rings for Mares Cyrano

Hello!

I need a few O-rings for a Mares Cyrano 850 speargun and maybe a lubricant for them as well. The gun is 8 years old and needs some work. The Mares website is pretty lame. So any suggestions whom to contact in my case.
I can get some generic silicone O-rings from McMaster.com but I'd rather go to the source.

Your response is greatly appreciated.

What's your location (where do you live) ? This matters to suggest you the closest source...

Vrokhlenko,

Just bring the old O-rings to a industrial supplies store and you are ready.

Regarding the Oil the best is the one use for the Motorcycle forks.

Cheers

Ivan

Re: O-rings for Mares Cyrano

Thanks!

You mean that the O-ring material is not important? I think it has to be silicone. Also does the lubricant have a more particular name?

Thanks in advance.

Re: O-rings for Mares Cyrano

The material is not so important, if you want to put really resistant O-rings you can use Viton ones, but they are more expensive and make a little diference. The most important is the right size.

Regarding the lubrcant you need an Oil with the lowest viscosity possible in order to mix very well with the air and reach all the internal points of the gun.

The oils used in refrigeration compressors are really good too.

Re: O-rings for Mares Cyrano

Thanks!

My father has been making spearguns for 45 years and he was always using castor oil (readily available from any pharmacy) and making o-rings whenever he could not find pre-made ones. Recently he found out that a silicone oil is the best but he was not sure about the weight. You seem to recommend the highest viscosity. Thanks for the info.

Re: O-rings for Mares Cyrano

NO, the lowest viscosity you need a very Thin Oil.

Remember that Viscosity is the resistance of a Fluid to Flow, so High viscosity means more resistance.

You need LOW resistance to flow.
