One Hour Statics....

there that got your attention......

having got rather bored of pushing for longer and longer statics, I've been playing with CO2 tables and going right down to doing the last hold with just a single breath between holds...

this got me thinking - I am sure there is a record out there for how long out of a period of one hour someone can actually spend holding their breath? with of course short breaths in between

Anyone know who and how they did it?

Sam

Re: One Hour Statics....

I travel by train a lot now, so I use it as an opportunity to get some training done.

Last Thursday I spent a total of 8 hours on buses and trains, plus about 1 hour walking. That must be a PB for most land-based transport in a day.

It is so boring to be stuck on trains, most of all in the evening when it is dark and there is nothing to see out of the window. That's why I do apnea on them. (And sometimes also for the same reason as BennyB )

Yesterday I did a CO2 table for an hour on the train and I didn't even notice the train journey. I just found myself at my destination.

Re: One Hour Statics....

Maybe you had a blackout?? hehe.

To do a long "one hour static", do very long exhales while still in the water, and just come up for a very quick and big breath. The breath holds can't be maximal. So it's like doing a CO2 table but with only one breath in between.

To do the "records", they use video to time exactly how long each breath took, and then subtract that time from the hour.
