I have had a 3.5mm Cressi Technica Wetsuit for around two months and the long john tore along the seams in the thigh area. I have noticed the stitching becoming loose the last few dives but there are no holes or anything on any other part of the suit. Has anyone had simmilar problems?
Does anyone know where I can buy the bottom part alone?

Is it a straight separation, or a bad tear? If it's not too bad, you could glue it back together. I've repaired suits before and they last for ages.

It started off straight but as i swam it began to stretch and its kind of circular now. what kind of glue do you use?

Any neoprene glue that most dive shops sell is fine. Just make sure it's the flexible stuff, not anything that becomes rigid. If you want you can sew it too, then glue over it again.
Here's a decent article: Repairing a Damaged Wetsuit

Hey bro zup, I modified my wetsuit not to long ago I personally use cressi neoprene glue that I bought from the site with a large order I placed. I did not like the glues that they sell at the store $20 screw that ... I cut cleaned, glued, held firm & pressed, and then I sowed and finally passed the glue again. If your suit is still in guarantee then I will advise you to get it replaced bro. My Beuchat 1.5 has undone stitchings as well. But I don't worry cuz I know how to fix it now.
PS : Don't you think 3.5mm is definitely to much for Miami waters? & if you going to sow use a curbed needle this will help you the most! Good Luck Last edited by armandozx; May 21st, 2008 at 11:22. |

If cressi doesnt cover it im def gonna DIY it like you said.
Yea the 3.5 can get hot but once im in the water its not so bad. I have a beuchat mundial reversibal which I use alot too. I alwayse wear it with the rubber out to try to keep cool but I think the black might attract more heat than my camo cressi. Im thinking about getting an omer Dahlik or something thats just all neopreane because although I sometiems feel like im overheating I cant stand getting sunburned or stung by all the bugs in the ocean.

ahaha bro I have the same wetsuit The Reversible 1.5mm I use the neoprene out due to it's roughness the other side is mainly used to freedive. I would not use it unless I know I wont be hunting. Yeah bro, like I stated earlier I altered the legs on the suit and I might alter the wrists, it's a little tight on my chest and back but that's fine I guess once in the water you feel normal I kinda got hot in my 1.5 so what I would be doing is opening so water can come in and cool me off a bit.

maybe try poking a hole with a heated nail in the areas that hold most heat. Maybe your head, neck and schoulders?? Thats how i make ear holes for all my hoods

omg dude! i just open it up a little bit and let the water come in lol there is no need to damage the wetsuit for refreshement!
why do you make ear holes any ways? to hear more of what's going on outside? or do you actually feel you equalize better by doing this? |

Took a freediving course and the teacher made a big emphasis on that. So i kinda do it out of habit now. If you heat the nail it will melt the neoprine and not damage suit.

Eric Fattah used to have a little set of straws running from beside his ear towards his face outside the suit.

i ripped my suit awhile back and managed to sucessfully repair it (two separate occasions); although the damaged area on your suit sounds larger and of a different nature.
elios sent me repair instructions and some neoprene----details of the repair are here: http://forums.deeperblue.net/freediv...ene-patch.html cheers, sean vancouver, canada |
